A clear defense of conception

During the run up to my recent trip to Costa Rica, I was struck by a white paper that was submitted by Dr Maureen Condic. It was, perhaps, the most cogent description of the beginning of life I had ever read. I have not met Dr Condic, but have had some communications  with her. She actually went to Costa Rica before me and spent some time with the Attorney General’s staff. They were impressed with her gentility and her ability to explain complex issues.

She submitted a paper that became part of the supporting documentation used at the time of the testimony in Costa Rica

Costa Rica Statement

This statement was the initial one that so impressed me…so I had to look deeper.

She actually wrote a more substantial paper on the topic

When does human life begin?

Together they are the most beautiful defenses of the beginning of life I have ever seen. They might be a little technical, but this is the language of science, and the best language to address the people at the core of the challenge.

Servant of God, Jerome Lejeune, pray for us!

About St. Anne Center for Reproductive Health

I am a board certified Reproductive Endocrinologist who practiced in the IVF world for 15 years. After seeing the damage that these treatments were causing couples and the complete commodification of life, fueled by a deeper understanding of my Roman Catholic faith, I left the field in 2010. I am currently praying for an end to the culture of death, and hoping to one day have the funding to open the St Anne Center for Reproductive Heath, to provide options for people with challenges to conceive with support and care to follow God's will.
